Mustapha Farrakhan Jr. Dunk!

I see countless highlights of dunks and etc. as I am a religious viewer of ESPN and I always feel that most of these slam dunks are overrated when the sportscaster get all ecstatic.
But as I viewed this highlight of Minister Louis Farrakhan’s godson this past week, Virginia’s own: Mustapha Farrakhan Jr. dunking on opponent then giving him the mean “WHAT NOW!?” face, If I could utilize one word to describe this play it would be: Grrr!!!

OBEY x Artists for Peace & Justice ‘ Haiti Relief Tees

Studio Number One’s Cleon Peterson, Casey Ryder and the famed Shepard Fairey created an iconic Haiti graphic from a photograph by Tao Ruspoli , who epitomized the sense of wonder and hope for better days in the eyes of children, through his photo. The intriguing beauty of it all is that the children of Haiti continue to smile in the wake of this calamity. Profits generated from the sale of this product directly goes to the Haiti relief effort  by Artist for Peace and Justice.
Available styles are now available for  pre-order (mens/womens) on 8ospurple.
This means a whole lot to me.

Since the earthquake has hit Haiti on the 12th of last month I have remained quiet and have opted not to discuss it on the site because It is a very extremely sensitive subject for me. This is especially since this is BLACK HIStory Month, I have a profound LOVE for humanity, & last but I NOT LEAST of course: my family is of Haitian descent.
I have a whole lot on my mind & when I feel I am ready to vent, I will. I CANNOT neglect that I too have a voice and this site is an outlet for my voice and all the other umpteen existing blogs/sites that do exist as well.

I have also taken the liberty to include the original piece here.

Killer Mike & Dr. Cornel West Discuss the “N-Word” (Video)

PEACE.
It’s STILL BLACK HIStory Month! & I remember this alluring video that I’ve had the pleasure of viewing a few months back. NOT to impose anything on anyone, but I for one has cut the word out of my vocabulary for the most part for personal reasons.

PLEASE feel free to drop a comment or two about how you feel about the N-Word & about this video pertaining to the N-Word.

FatShouts to Maurice Garland providing this video.

Change is GOOD! NEW YEAR! NEW ME! NEW NEW!

It’s a WHOLE NEW YEAR! So I’ve taken a firm stand that everything (well NOT EVERY thing) should, but rather would change. Change is GOOD for the mind, body, and spirit. Some may consider change NOT always GOOD, but rather bad in fact because most people have an undeniable fear of thee unknown. Nonetheless change is the prime catalyst for growth. When I mean growth, I mean in every aspect of the word so when I stumbled upon this theme I jumped at it because It was all that I had imagined in the first place before I had chosen the former layout that was BREAD & Butter.

I hope you all enjoy the NEW look! This is going to be a HUGE year for ME and (HOPEfully) this site as well!
Stay tuned and you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Greg Street Presents Dr. King – The Speeches (Mixtape)

A picture is worth a thousand words.
Wooow… this picture speaks volumes that I can’t even fathom, but I SERIOUSly think that Martin Luther KING Jr. Day should be Martin Luther KING Jr. WEEK!
But then again, what do I know?
(Shrugs shoulders…) I’m just a skinny black kid from BROOKLYN.

Anyhow I came across this post a few days ago on The Smoking Section and found it pretty interesting so of course it deemed a repost by moi especially with my previous post. It’s a mixtape consisting of 3 tracks. The 3 tracks are basically The KING’s speeches over some instrumentals from Dr. Dre’s CLASSIC album: The Chronic.
Enjoy.

Lupe Fiasco – I’m Beaming

dr%201.jpg
Ahhhhh! Nothing like some NEW Carrera Lu!
Especially when it’s produced by The Neptunes!
Strange enough, this song had originally leaked a while back and it started this ‘big’ thing where it was pulled and Lupe made a post on his site expressing his distaste  on the matter. However and ironically enough, the GOOD folks over at Atlantic decided let it out!?

(Shrugs shoulders…)

I’m so hypnotized by this DOPE track as I literally can’t stop replaying it.
Enjoy.

Late Night with The Roots (Mixtape)

http://herfection.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/20100107-ROOTS1a-500x500.jpg

It’s about time! Here comes a compilation of live performance clips from the legendary Roots crew on Jimmy Fallon’s Late Night show. They’re predominantly the reason why I even watch the show at all. I’m allured by the fact that Black Thought is usually included as a part of the performances when: A. to replace a feature on the song being performed or B. (shrugs shoulders…) just ’cause. This DOPE joint includes (LIVE) cuts featuring the likes of Clipse, Ludacris, Q-Tip, Mos Def, 50 Cent, Ghostface, Goodie Mob, Black Star, Public Enemy and more!
BIG shouts to 2DBz for the post & 2DBz very own Shake for the DOPE artwork.

Mos Def – History feat. Talib Kweli

http://walkwithamari.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/blackstar.jpg?w=500&h=379

“Kweli says everybody acts according to the season that they born in,
some at the night, some in the morning”
-Mos Def

Oh man I can’t even begin to express how excited that these two individuals are doing some work together again. It gets no better!
This is a video for a joint named History provided by Creative Control. I’ve been following Creative Control for a while now and they have yet to not impress me with each view.

I still remember Black Star’s CLASSIC 1st album Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star released in ‘98. I was so young I was still in JHS! WOW how time flies. Definition was such a DOPE single/record with the whole dollar van video concept.
“People think that MC is shorthand for misconception”
- Talib Kweli; “Definition”

I’ve also taken the liberty to include the download link to this song as well.
Enjoy.

Peyon Manning is 2009 NFL’s Most Valuable Player (AGAIN).

Manning MVP

INDIANAPOLIS - DECEMBER 28: Quarterback Peyton Manning #18 of the Indianapolis Colts unsnaps his helmet during the game against the Tennessee Titans on December 28, 2008 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by: Jamie Squire/Getty Images)

Indianapolis Colts’ star quarterback Peyton Manning became the 1st player in NFL history to win a record 4 Associated Press NFL MVP awards this past Saturday. Manning received an alarming 39.5 out of the total 50 votes. Manning won the award in 2003, 2004, & the prior year (2008). Drew Brees trailed 2nd with a total of 7.5 votes!? Philip Rivers came in 3rd with 2 votes and “THE MAN, MYTH, & LEGEND” Brett Favre actually came in last with 1 vote!? You have to be kidding ME!
I’m actually starting to think that many facets of sports are beginning to lose their integrity!

NOTE: Now I must be very sincere and honest as I’m typing this I must let you readers out there know that I am in NO way shape or form an football aficionado nor in baseball as I have JUST started watching/following both sports at the beginning of this season. With this being said I have always loved both sports respectively, but NEVER followed them which would unfortunately mean that I missed out on all the great years/entire phenomenon of the Madden (game) series : /
Does this take away all credibility from this post? NO. When I start to get into something regardless of whether it be music, art, sports, fashion, etc. I indulge in it at an optimal level which makes me make it look undeniably effortless in how fast I can catch up! because I not only start paying attention and following, I do my respective history on the sport, art, etc. and on all its historical figures who made it what it is today 8 )

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming…
NOT to take anything away from Peyton Manning of course, but let’s be realistic here folks. YES this post may be biased because I absolutely love to watch Mr. 40yrs old perform & yes Mr. Favre is my favorite QB, but I also love watching Peyton go nuts with the pigskin. Another case in point is that Drew Brees led his Saints to a 13-0 start. Let’s NOT neglect Mr. Rivers’ Chargers who are a force to be reckoned with! I mean for goodness sakes they started off 0-3 and have NOT lost a game since! The Chargers are on a roll like butter!
So you may be sitting here reading this post saying why did I say that it’s alarming? Well let’s talk numbers then. I mean I was was never too GOOD with numbers or mathematics in general, but one thing I did learn and stuck with me is that numbers NEVER EVER lie. Right? Right. Another factor to remember is that the award itself is the MVP trophy which of course you should know stands for Most Valuable Payer as in the Most Valuable Player to your team. So you can just imagine how appalled I was when I learned of Brett Favre’s last place slot with 1 vote! I mean for goodness sakes he made the Minnesota Vikings immensely better! Him and Adrian Peterson is a tandem that works magic.

But now of course back to my point at hand: numbers.
I have provided here all the facts in the form of numbers and I want you, the reader to make the choice and tell me If I’m blind or terribly misinformed.
More info after the jump below.

P.S. I also think Mr. Chris Johnson should be an honorable mention shoe-in for being MVP to his team, but we all know that:

1. The MVP is always geared to the QB title which is the most imperative position on the team.

Chris Johnson is a running back. Way off even though Johnson has become one of the league’s premier players, and a Pro Bowl starter in each of his two seasons.

2. The Titans didn’t even make the wild card in this season’s postseason so ehh.. why award a GOOD player on a losing team right? Right. Sorry Chris. (Shrugs shoulders…) We still love you though.

I mean for goodness sakes bro your performance this year was darn near superhuman averaging a ridiculous 6.7 ypc and is on pace for 1,920 rushing yards. You’ve caught twenty one balls, too, including a dazzling 69 yarder against the Texans. Jeff Fisher didn’t give him the pigskin enough in the first six game, but since he’s been getting his hands on that ball they’ve been doing way better.

HAPPY SUNDay! 8 )

http://thorburn.org/gary/dxped/sunrise.jpg

Genesis 1: 3-5
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that [it was] good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Well put…
so I greet you all with, “Happy SUNDay & of course a GOOD morning” to you all regardless of religious preference we must all appreciate the essence and beauty of life of night/day. Especially the shining sun which wakes us UP every morning. When I state/type sun it does not have to be confined to simply a literal term, but in fact it may very much be symbolic in many ways. My sun is (ironically enough) my son (AMIR) that wakes me UP in the morning. I wake UP to his celestial smile and I return a smile as he grins back at me and says “Dada”. His glow and aura let’s me know that it is time to awaken in all aspects of the word. Physically wake UP and mentally wake UP so that I can start off my day that allows me to get closer to my goals and become a better man & father for him by getting UP & commuting to school/etc.

Your sun or sunshine (as the visionary Lupe Fiasco beautifully sings above) may very well be your wife, husband, spouse, pet, friend, etc. So as you awake and read this post of mine, DO NOT forget/neglect to give thanks first and make sure to appreciate the sun or sunshine that awakens you this morning and oh yeah one more thing!…

Life’s short, so SMILE! It goes a long way! In fact it may go longer than you may expect.
Be someone’s sunshine this morning, tomorrow & beyond!

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbour.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.”
- Mark Twain

Have a BLESSed day.
Enjoy (the video provided above).

PEACE.

Hmmmm.. Do you believe in magic?

http://www.ubergizmo.com/photos/2007/3/magicjack.jpg

“The company behind the magicJack, the cheap Internet phone gadget that’s been heavily promoted on TV, has made a new version of the device that allows free calls from cell phones in the home, in a fashion that’s sure to draw protest from cellular carriers.”
- By PETER SVENSSON, AP Technology Writer – Fri Jan 8, 2010 2:29PM EST

If this is so unbelievable that I definitely need to get my hands on one of these gadgets quick before “the machine(s)” shut it down!
